You may pass him without noticing he is there because of his pure soul. His simple, unassuming, but confident mien speaks volumes even without uttering a word. Fr. Akodu Peter Kehinde, though quiet, has amassed tremendous experience overtime in learning, spirituality, and culture. Born 52 years ago in the sprawling town of Ikoro in Ekiti State, Nigeria, he had his early life, which shaped him into the media and Communication personality he has become, in a neighbouring town, Ijero Ekiti.
He grew up amidst his five siblings, three men and two women, under the protective care of their disciplinarian father and loving mother. From his early years, he carefully submitted himself to his father who progressively demonstrated great understanding of the media buying and reading daily newspapers in order to become opinion leader.
Under his tutelage, Kehinde got attracted to the newspaper and took his admiration to the newsstand where he regularly joined the readers community to do conversational exchanges on public issues. He then saw the media especially journalism as a field that holds promise for his future educational engagement. Today he did not only foray into communication and media, he studied it to accomplishing level.
He will for ever be grateful to his father who introduced him to the media early in life. May his gentle soul rest in peace. He obtained his highest qualification in the doctoral cadre in November, 2022. He had two master degrees in Mass Communication, one in 2008, the other in 2010. Ordained as a Catholic priest on August 12, 2000, he had held several administrative and pastoral positions since then.
He edited a considerable number of publications in the Seminary as student in formation, also during further study at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Port Harcourt, and as a missionary in Oyo Diocese. As a communication scholar, he is open to teaching, consulting, public relations, facilitating conferences and presenting seminars.
